The same story happens again and again. Young people, despite their better judgment and how they were raised, date someone they know they shouldn’t really be dating. Over time, simply because of the amount of time they spend together, they fall in love or into sin. They know in their heart it’s not someone they should marry but they marry them anyway. And then trouble comes Unfortunately over the years, this is a horror story we’ve heard again and again.
When young people head down this road, most times they don’t want us to counsel them and marry them. They don’t want us to know what’s really going on, they don’t want us to know what kind of choice they’re making, despite their better judgment and what God’s Word says. Many times sin is a part of this equation–they feel like they have to get married because they have entered into sexual sin with someone they know they shouldn’t even be dating in the first place.
People don’t just fall into sin.

One of my favorite classes as a Communication Studies major back in college was a Christian Relationships class where various aspects of relationships—friendship, singleness, dating, marriage, family, etc. I think one of the reasons I find this topic so interesting is because we were created by a relational God who created us for connection , and relationships are so incredibly vital to each of our lives in one way or another.
This makes me want to continually grow in learning how to do them well. In particular, dating and romantic relationships are something I love learning about. In the beginning God created man and woman, and ever since we have been asking questions about love, marriage, sex, and romance. Loveology is an exploration of what the Bible has to say about the never ending story of male and female.

Courtship and dating are some of the least discussed topics in the church. Yet dating has caused the most havoc, destroyed countless lives, resulted in unwanted pregnancies and abortions, and even split churches apart. This has led many church youth groups to become havens for dating and premarital sex.
February is definitely the month of LOVE. We’re getting tons of hits from people searching for youth sermons on love, relationships, dating.
In response to several requests, the session of Uptown Church has put together the following article for what we hope will be a helpful resource. It is our desire that this will help give you the confidence to enter into this conversation with your teenager. Will I let my daughter date in high school?
If you have kids, it is inevitable, you will have to face these questions with your teenager. As we read through the Bible it is clear that scripture places a high value on marriage. It is marriage that reflects the relationship between Christ and His church. In light of this, we too should hold a high value of marriage and look forward to the day that our children start their own family. The uncertainty lies in getting them there.
How will you shepherd them through the transition of singleness into marriage? This document has been put together in an effort to encourage you as a parent. We want our kids to get married one day.

I remember vividly when the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye came out. The best seller by Joshua Harris was recently back in the spotlight when Harris announced on social media that he separated from his wife and left the Christian faith. My parents, like many other Christian leaders and parents at that time, came of age in the sexual revolution.
They were personally impacted by the dramatic cultural changes that came as their generation denounced previously accepted sexual values such as saving sex for marriage, marital fidelity, and sexual self-restraint. As they came to faith and later went on to become parents and leaders in Christian ministry, one of their main goals was to create a church environment that modeled an alternative lifestyle to the increasing promiscuity in secular culture, with the hopes of protecting the next generation from making the same relational mistakes that they made.
You laughed about it and got totally embarrassed, but it felt good to have a special someone. Then you hit high school. His voice broke, her body changed. Suddenly, they were hot. But being an adult seems so far away. On the one hand, your body is telling you it is totally ready to hit the relationship market, or at least to experiment a little. On the other hand, the land of serious relationships feels like it is a loooong way away.
We are loved by God. Loved so much that God sent Jesus to save us, even when we were his enemies. If we are followers of Jesus, that means we are a new creation in him.
